Caught the UNKLE live show last night and it rocked. Felt a little more sedate after the chaos of Glade last summer and it wasn't nearly loud enough but Mrs Avalanche seemed impressed. I will only go to the Carling Academy for special occasions now, as it's such an unpleasant venue which offers a pretty lousy concert going experience. However it wasn't that busy last night so we were able to stand comfortably near the front and more importantly near the bins of bass. Still had to spike the cider with black mind as they only stock Strongbow which is shite. Spotted one Robert Del Naja to stage left but he didn't make my predicted guest appearance - instead they played a brief version of Twilight as an intro with a pre recorded vocal track! Seemed a bit silly - This trend was followed with a couple of other tracks - bit strange watching a stage when you can hear a vocalist you know is not there - in this respect Lavelle has not bridged the gap between sound system and live act that Massive have so successfully done so. Still, pedantry asid, as I said before they rocked
